Mia Johannsen is a registered clinical psychologist, specialising in eating disorders, body image, depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties in adolescents and adults.
Mia takes a warm and nurturing approach to her work; employing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy - Enhanced (for eating disorders), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy to assist her clients with issues including eating disorders, depression, anxiety, poor body image, relationship difficulties, attachment trauma, adjustment difficulties and low self-worth.
Mia has a wonderful ability to tap into her client’s inner strength and assist them in building self-esteem, gaining insight into themselves and others, practicing assertiveness and setting healthy boundaries in relationships.
Mia has a special interest in female low self-esteem, body image and relationship difficulties.
Mia’s key research has revolved around the relationships between parents and children; with a focus on attachment style, trust and romantic relationship satisfaction later on in life.
